Welcome to the Cephalopod early life website!

Founded in 2012, the primary goal of our lab is to study the biology and ecology of cephalopod early life stages, particularly of the tiny and fragile paralarvae.

An important aspect of our research is concerned with how cephalopod paralarvae respond to environmental variables and stressors. This is key to understanding their peculiar ecological and behavioral adaptations. Further understanding of these adaptations will provide important insights on the early life histories of cephalopods.

We are also interested in how environmental factors affect the distribution and dispersal of paralarvae, including the effects of climate change at individual and population levels. In addition, some of our current projects are focused on understanding the influence of abiotic factors on paralarvae-prey interactions and the mechanisms that shape their experience-based feeding behaviour
